Meet Dan

Dan Newberger is a father, a husband, a veteran, and a community advocate. Above all, Dan is a leader. He has led teams to success across the public, private, and nonprofit sectors, and he will use that experience to help the Board of Education navigate the opportunities and challenges that Howard County’s students, families, and schools will face as we emerge from the pandemic.

 
 
 

Priorities

DAN’S PRIORITIES INCLUDE:

  • Recovering and rebuilding from the pandemic's impact, with schools that offer a trauma-informed, culturally-competent environment in which children can learn and where mental health care is available to all those who need it;

  • Ensuring that all the county's children get the opportunities they need to be successful, in school and in their lives beyond, whether that's extra support or extra challenges;

  • Taking the right precautions necessary to keep our schools safe;

  • Empowering our educators as trusted and valued partners who we rely on to play a critical role in creating and sustaining an HCPSS culture not just of excellence, but of innovation and constant improvement; and

  • Ensuring that HCPSS carries out its critical mission in a fiscally responsible manner as a good steward of taxpayer dollars.
